As temperatures drop and winter storms blow through, make sure you’re aware of your surroundings whenever venturing outside. It’s not uncommon for heavy winds, snow, and ice to bring down power lines and utility poles. If you come in contact with a downed power line, be sure to stay at least 35 feet back, which is about 3 car lengths. Do not touch a downed line or anything around them. If there are people around, warn them of the hazard.
