ESFI Welcomes New Members to Board of Directors

Arlington, VA–The Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI) yesterday announced the appointment of two new members to their Board of Directors.
 
ESFI is governed by a Board of Directors representing industry leaders and consumer advocates from the nation’s leading electrical manufacturers, distributors, utilities, associations and government/regulatory agencies. Board members provide direction and leadership for the Foundation.They guide the development and management of outreach programs and assist with fundraising activities.
 
Newly appointed members of the Board are: Lorraine Carli, Vice President of Communications for the National Fire Protection Association, (NFPA) and Samuel G. Tornabene, Senior Director of Communication Services at Edison Electric Institute (EEI).
 
Lorraine Carli is the Vice President of Communications for NFPA. Ms Carli oversees all of the organization’s media and public affairs activities, working closely with staff throughout NFPA on a variety of media and advocacy issues in all areas of fire and life safety. Previously, Ms. Carli was a public relations consultant working with health care, medical technology, government, and non-profit organizations. She also held positions at Speedline Technologies, CareGroup and with the Massachusetts Department of Social Services. Ms. Carli holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and a Master’s of Education. She has served as an adjunct professor at Emerson College and Suffolk University in Boston, teaching graduate public relations courses.
 
Samuel Tornabene is Senior Director of Communication Services at EEI, where he is responsible for all of the advertising, public opinion research, marketing publicity and promotion, creative services and outreach activities. Prior to joining EEI in 1988, Mr. Tornabene was the Vice President, Media Director at Ketchum Advertising. He is a member of the Brand Management Committee at the Association of National Advertisers and also serves as President of the Utility Communicators International. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in advertising from Michigan State University.
