May 2012 has been officially proclaimed as Electrical Safety Month by the governors of Colorado, Oklahoma, and Virginia.  These states join Illinois, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin in demonstrating their support for the electrical safety awareness efforts of the Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI).  The Electrical Safety Month proclamations urge residents to establish good electrical safety habits and to follow them throughout the year.

ESFI sponsors National Electrical Safety Month each May to increase public awareness of the electrical hazards around us at home, work, school, and play.  Campaign resources and outreach activities highlight the simple steps we can all take to avoid electrically-related tragedies.  Electrical safety awareness and education among homeowners, families, employees, and communities is the key to preventing electrical fires, injuries, and fatalities.

ESFI applauds these states for their commitment to electrical safety.
