ESFI Mexico Chairman Rafael Yanez Receives 2009 Safety Award for Excellence

Arlington, VA The Electrical Safety Foundation International named ESFI Mexico and Chairman Rafael Yanez as the winner of the 2009 Safety Award for Excellence (SAFE) given by the foundation for outstanding efforts to promote electrical safety. The award, which recognizes utilities, manufacturers, distributors, associations, agencies, nonprofit associations, and other industry-related organizations, was presented to Yanez at ESFI’s annual board of directors meeting on November 13, 2009 in Scottsdale, Arizona.

 
The SAFE Award honors an individual or organization who has undertaken significant efforts to improve electrical safety in the home and the workplace as part of an active and sustained effort . It also highlights are playing a vital and active role in improving electrical safety for their employees, both in the home and the workplace.
 
Since its inception in 2006, the ESFI Mexico Committee has grown exponentially under the leadership of Rafael Yanez. Among the winners’ achievements include efforts building an active and quickly expanding presence of prominent industry experts in Mexico and Central America to serve on the board of directors, establishing a partnership with the largest public utility in Central Mexcio, educating children about electrical safety and training hundreds of Mexican Customs Officers to detect and seize dangerous counterfeit electrical products smuggled across the U.S.-Mexico border.
 
ESFI’s SAFE Award was established by the National Chamber of Electrical Manufacturers, the Standardization and Certification Association, and the Mexico office of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association.
 
The Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI) is dedicated exclusively to promoting electrical safety.
