(NAPS)-The Electrical Safety Foundation International recommends that homeowners plug into the following electrical safety tips for outdoor activities during warmer weather:
Electric-powered mowers should not be used on wet grass. Always use an extension cord marked for outdoor use and rated for the power needs of your mower.
Inspect power tools and electric lawn mowers before each use for frayed power cords, broken plugs and cracked or broken housings. If the product is damaged, stop using it immediately. Repair it or replace it.
When using tools or extension cords outdoors, make sure they are marked for outdoor use.
Unplug all portable power tools when not in use. Do not leave a power tool unattended even for a brief period of time. The tool can be turned on by a child who could be seriously hurt.
Never use electrically operated power tools in the rain or in wet conditions.
Metal ladders conduct electricity. Watch out for overhead wires and power lines.
