Electrical hazards on the job can be avoided by following approved NFPA 70E and OSHA guidelines. Attention to safety is the important

first step to an effective safety program.

Skilled employees, trained in electrical safety procedures, should make sure they understand and follow safety precautions. Those not trained to recognize and avoid electrical hazards, or not under the supervision of those qualified in electrical safety procedures, should avoid contact with electrical equipment and systems.

Electrical Panel Labels

GFCI Poster and Flyer

Developed as a joint effort between ESFI, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), this promotional piece, available in both poster and flyer sizes, is intended to help remind people on the job and at home of the availability of potentially life-saving ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs), and the importance of testing GFCIs monthly and after major electrical storms.

ESFI and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) are joining together to promote CPSC's video, Wired for Safety and the companion booklet, Guide to Home Wiring Hazards. The 12-minute video contains information about old electrical wiring hazards in the home and how to fix them. The Guide helps you find electrical dangers in your home before they cause fires or electrical shock. Arc Faults and Electrical Safety

The Arc Faults and Electrical Safety brochure was designed to give an understanding of what is an AFCI and how it works. The "AFCI" is an arc fault circuit interrupter. AFCI's are electrical devices designed to protect against fires caused by arcing faults in the home electrical wiring.
